Searching for Articles

  1. A user may search for articles to view or edit by clicking the "Search article" tab.

  2. Begin by selecting the publication(s) that you would like to search through. Select multiple publications by option-clicking on them (If multiple publications are available to you.)

  3. Choose a section or mapping code to search through if you desire. Note that if you are grouped to multiple publications, your working publication's sections will appear first, followed by a list of other publications's sections that you are grouped to, prefixed with the publication's name. (dailynews:Sports).

  4. The three "Make Selection" bars enable a a user to text search through various components. Note that the text field where you type your desired search string is limited to fifty characters. Use the "Contains" bar in the middle to choose what type of search operation you would like to perform (is, is not, contains, does not contain). Note that when you choose the "Body" parameter from the "Make Selection" bar you are limited to "Contains" and "Does Not Contain."

  5. Choose a parameter from the "Order By" bar and your results will be returned in that order. Search orders are based on the following algorythms for order: (spaces, numbers, some special characters, uppercase letters, lowercase letters, other special characters.)

  6. The "Show" drop down determines how many results you would like to see.

  7. The "Saved Searches" bar will execute a search with saved parameters when y ou select an option from it. The option to save searches is not available until you have completed a search and ensured that the results you have gotten are satisfactory. Dates are not saved with saved searches.
